Meet Nathan

Nathan was first drawn to East Lansing to attend Michigan State University’s James Madison College where he earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees with high honor in Political Theory and in Social Relations. Nathan also holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and is completing a law degree at the Michigan State University College of Law.

Nathan has a passion for community involvement and has served the city of East Lansing in a number of capacities over the years. Prior to his election to the City Council, Nathan served as Vice Chair of the East Lansing Human Relations Commission, as a member of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee, and as a member of the Ingham County Equal Opportunity Committee. Nathan volunteers his time as a Unit Commissioner for the Chief Okemos Council of the Boy Scouts of America and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of East Lansing and Haven House. He also serves as one of East Lansing’s appointees to the CATA Board of Directors. As a member of the East Lansing City Council, Nathan was appointed to serve on the Michigan Municipal League’s Land Use & Economic Development Policy Committee and the MML’s Legislative Governance Committee.

Nathan worked as a Legislative Aide in the Michigan House of Representatives for six years and has been involved in numerous campaigns for local, state and federal office. He has been a fixture in the Ingham County Democratic Party for many years, having served as Secretary, Treasurer, and currently as Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP).
